Let’s make war as a part of the history!

Political Movement “Social Democrats for the Development of Georgia" (SDD) congratulates the 65th anniversary of the end of the World War II to all the veterans who took part in it.

65 years of peaceful existence is indeed unprecedented period for Europe. However, unfortunately this is only related with Western Europe for which war is already a part of the history. In Eastern Europe, especially in Post-Soviet space and very particularly in Georgia war still did not become a part of the history, during last years Georgia can not survive from this trouble of the humanity.

Post WWII era in Western Europe clearly showed the advantage of peace, development of society, human rights protection, promotion of justice and progress of the states, and despite of resistance among the nations of Europe, all this goodness is unconditionally linked with peace.

The development of modern Georgia is impossible without the recognition of peace as unconditional priority. The problems we face must be solved only by peaceful means, as this is just impossible to solve them with non-peaceful means.

The selflessness and sacrifice made by those soldiers who fought in WWII against Fascism is a sacrifice which they have done for the peace. 65 years ago the nations who fought with one another took into the consideration that the problems can not be solved by war and the steps which they took in future proved that there is no alternative for peace. Today, the descendants of those people who took part in WWII in Eastern Europe, in Post-Soviet space and in Georgia has commitment to realize that there is no alternative for peace and that war as a way of problem solution must be finally condemned and thus it must become a part of the history. Otherwise, the attitude of current generation and their gratefulness for the participants of WWII will carry only symbolic character and it will be an empty gesture from the content.

Social Democrats for the Development of Georgia calls to Georgian society and especially for youth to decline the war as a way of solution of those problems which Georgia face today
